At a session of the Government of Ukraine on January 20, Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine also Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksii Reznikov received approval to sign an agreement with the Credit Institution for Reconstruction (KfW, Germany). The institution is affiliated with the government of the Federal Republic of Germany and aims to help Kyiv develop social infrastructure in the war zones in the east of the country. According to the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, this refers to a new project “Promotion of social infrastructure (Ukrainian Social Investment Fund VIII)” worth €13.1 million. Its goal is to carry out energy-efficient modernization of medical care facilities, purchase modern basic medical equipment and also for outpatient diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 disease and its consequences in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions, as well as in controlled by government Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
It is planned to sign additional agreements on USIF VI and USIF VII projects worth €23.4 million. 9 million will be used to build housing for internally displaced persons (13 facilities) and improve infrastructure (6 schools and 7 kindergartens) in IDP-hosting communities:
in the Dnipro region: Kryvyi Rih, Pershotravensk;
in the Donetsk region: Mariupol;
in the Zaporizhia region: Melitopol, Lantsevo, Huliaipole;
in the Luhansk region: Severodonetsk, Novoaydar, Kreminna;
in the Kharkiv region: Izium, Chuhuiv.
The second grant of € 14.45 million is aimed at improving health care. The purchase of new equipment and energy-efficient renovation of hospitals will affect at least 40 facilities in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia oblasts, as well as in the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts controlled by the Government of Ukraine, the Government portal said.
