In Kyiv, at daylight, historical lights already disappeared. Till now, more than 100 copies of unique works have already been lost. Masters of different eras – from empires to Soviet Union.
Most of these works of art from their “settled” are sent literally to garbage, now in the capital there is not a single element of street lighting, not even their composition ensemble included in the list of monuments of either state or local significance.
“The first electric lanterns were installed in Chkalov Square in Kyiv, which had been installed by the “Savitsky” and “straus” Society since 1891,” Sokolov told UA-Times.
According to Sokolov, the problem is multifaceted and has a deep history: “They are not alone here, the problem is multifaceted and has a deep history: “They are not the only ones here (officials, the whole city with heritage protection, Kyiv historians, simple ones, who did not even pay attention to them – all of them lost in the fight against time… And then they remembered when it’s too late.”
The architect noted that lanterns are an integral element of the architectural landscape of the city. Moreover, the form and technique of lighting is not only an object of historical, but also cultural value. They are an expression of past historical eras and at least should be restored.
Head of Department for Prospective Development Dmitry Tulchinsky, Capital Construction and Repair of KP “Kyiv Svitlo”, has a different point on the problem.
According to him, today the city has a problem with most of lighting structures. The main problem is the deterioration of the lighting elements. “Here is the last example – Mariinsky Park”
“You know, when was the last time the lights were being repaired there ?!” This is 1980! That is, the lanterns were installed in the 1950s, and repairs were carried out in the 80s and since then nothing. What do you think will be the condition of such lamps?, Tulchinsky said.
The official, first of all, advocates for the safety of citizens: “You understand this, tomorrow an investigator will come to me and ask me some questions about somewhere light fall on the head of someone, with whom then they ask ? That’s right , whose also are responsible for this ? I assure you, no one in this city will ever sign,
to leave the old rusty pillars and let them.
Mr. Dmitry Vladimirovich did not have enough information about finding the historical lamps, which were dismantled in the chkalov park. However, he promised to investigate the situation and report on the fate of the historical heritage on Monday. However, at the time of publication of this material, the fate of the dismantled lamps still a mystery.
Only the fate of the dismantled lamps from the “Mariinsky” Park was reliably established, they are in possession “Kyiv Svitlo” now.
Among the possible motives for such a “hunt” initiated by the metropolitan administration, calls ordinary human self-interest: “It is beneficial for them to change lanterns, because they make purchases of new ones where you can weld at a price and get kickbacks. They are engaged in repair and restoration. they don’t want to, because they have to work on it” metropolitan historian Simyon Shirochin said.
Shirochin was one of the first to start combating the spontaneous destruction of particularly valuable examples of the city’s lighting system and made it public case.
with another local historian, Alexander Mikhaylik, Semyon created a unique registry of historical lanterns in the city of Kiev, which anyone can add.
The problem of destroying valuable examples of lantern art has signs of a system and cannot be defeated in any other way than a complete renewal of the leadership of this bureaucratic machine. “That is, it’s already ingrained thinking – until there is a change of leadership of these KPs for new people, nothing will happen.” Shirochin said.
According to the information and analytical system of public procurement “ProZorro”, only last year the city authorities spent more than 200 million hryvna to replace lighting in the whole city.
