On March 8, international Women’s day, a political rally for women’s rights organized by various social organizations and individual activists, stunned in capital Kyiv.
The rally gathered hundreds of activists, in particular, activists were present for the legalization of prostitution and for the so-called “Swedish model” of regulating prostitution. There were representatives of organizations for LGBT rights and trans people participaters and Representatives of parties and public organizations came to protest against the Women’s March on Mikhailovskaya Square. Activists even stood a column of feminists in black clothes and a coffin, thereby symbolically alluding to the “funeral procession” of feminism.
Many posters were dedicated to require ratify the Istanbul Convention Recall, this rally for Women’s Rights is held annually in many cities of Ukraine and in previous years it was often accompanied by violent excesses – clashes between activists of right and left. However, this time everything went peacefully.
