Divide and restrain

One of team businessman Igor Kolomoisky said to UA-Times, suggested that the land market it was supposed to be officially open last Tuesday, January 14. But he specified: if there are protests under the Rada, the situation could radically change. And so it happened.

The party, “Servant of the People”, explained the delay in introducing the land market by the need to vote for important bills.

“Given that there are risks of blocking Verkhovna Rada for several months, we want to vote for important bills that remained from last year and then enter the ground,” the leader of the largest groupin Rada David Arakhamia said.

Unofficially, UA-Times sources according to one of Zelensky’s team said: the opening of the sale of land slowed down the fear of a new wave of protests, as well as the lack of agreement on the distribution of hectares.

There are fears that voting for a land bill now will only increase the protest wave, recall that 73% of Ukrainians, are against lifting a moratorium on land sales according to “Rating group” poll.

Despite assurances of a referendum on the participation of foreigners in the purchase of land, some influence groups intend to seek accelerated access to the land market for foreigners. And for this, among other things, they launched a media campaign. And this means that the circle of applicants for treasured hectares may well expand.

In support of accelerating access to the land market for foreigners, “In Poland, which is half the size of Ukraine, there is room for everyone. And holdings, and farmers, and foreigners. I hope that opponents of land reform will take this into account in their argument, ”Oleksiy Mushak wrote on Facebook.

And on the page of the Minister of Economic Development and Agriculture Tymofiy Mylovanov, a letter from German farmers appeared with a proposal to immediately allow the sale of agricultural land to foreigners.

In addition, the majority plans to amend the Rules before voting,
which limit the possibility of amendments by people’s deputies to legislative acts, as well as complicating delaying the consideration of certain issues.

According to UA-Times sources from Zelensky’s team, this will allow, among other things, to speed up the consideration of the land bill. However, at the moment, not all the deputies of the “Servant of the people” group are ready to support the bill in a single rush.

Facing the land market

Opponents of legalization of the land market do not hide the joy of
intermediate victory, “The Verkhovna Rada listened to the requirements of Ukrainians and decided to return to consideration of the land law in accordance with the procedure provided for in the legislation,” the website of the “Fatherland” party, one of the opponents of the land market law.

Another opponent of the current version of the land market is “Opposition Platform for Life” party, And  called itself the only protector from “sale the lands.”

However, despite the postponement of voting, on the sidelines everyone understands that the adoption of the law is inevitable, and this will be at the next session of the Verkhovna Rada, So UA-Times sources considered mid-February-early March to be the most likely date of voting.

There is a lot of chances to persuade necessary number of deputies before the voting day the , And the authorities have enough economic incentives for this. Moreover, there is an incentive: new tranches of credit from the International Monetary Fund, one of the conditions for which is the adoption of a law on the land market.
