The detainee is suspected of kidnapping and torturing participants in the peaceful protests of 2013-2014 Ihor Lutsenko and Yury Verbytskу and killing the latter.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, the detention took place today, March 10: “The specified person has been on the international wanted list since April 2014. Based on the results of systematic work, his whereabouts have been established and it turned out that he was likely to receive criminal evasion in 2015 “a passport of a citizen of Ukraine to another name. due to assistance of experts from the Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Special Equipment and forensic examinations of the Security Service of Ukraine, he was able to identify his identity in a short time.”
According to a suspicion report, detainee is charged with the commission of criminal offenses under paragraph 3, 12, part 2 of article 115 (intentional murder of a hostage or a kidnapped person, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons), part 2 of article 127 (torture) and part 3 of article 146 (illegal imprisonment or kidnapping) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. At present, the issue is being decided on applying to the investigating judge with a petition on the selection of a preventive measure.
The Prosecutor office reminded that in the criminal proceedings on the establishment of a criminal organization, the abduction and torture of Maidan activists have so far been reported about suspicion of 11 wanted persons, and work is ongoing to establish other accomplices in criminal actions.
