People’s deputy Sergey Litvinenko registered in Ukrainian parliament bill number 3200-1, allowing previously prohibited actions in the facilities of the nature reserve fund.
In particular, in text of the draft , people’s deputies offer to actually allow:
- hunting in national parks, sanctuaries and other objects of nature-reserve fund
- popularization of hunting in the system of preschool, general secondary, vocational and higher education – by separating the terms “hunting” and “cruel killing of animals”
- introduction to the list “Harmful” animals raccoon dogs and jackals which according to the bill can be killed everywhere.
The public critically reacted to the bill – in particular, Marina Surkova, vice president of the Association of Animal Protection Organizations of Ukraine NGO and the Ecological Platform initiative. Surkova on her Facebook page, calls the bill “the legalization of the uncontrolled destruction of animals in hunting grounds, which will be called the“ hunting enclosure ”the biggest threat to the bill, and adds:“ Litvinenko proposes to introduce the concept of “hunting enclosures” – to enclose more than 100 hectares of hunting grounds ( and this can be 1 thousand hectares, and 10 thousand hectares) and allow them to “obtain, destroy or injure” animals without any rules or restrictions established for hunting. Since the destruction of animals in these “hunting enclosures” legally will not be hunting. ”
Also, a public figure fears legitimization in the bill of poaching under the guise of “selective” shooting.
