The Health Ministry of Ukraine reported new data on the situation with the disease in our country with influenza and respiratory tract infection.
According to Ministry of Health report, over the past week from February 17 to February 23, 217,459 Ukrainians got sick with viral respiratory infections, 61.3% were children.
The intensive incidence rate was 568.7 per 100,000 of the population, which is 19.3% more than the epidemic threshold in Ukraine. But the Ministry of Health is in no hurry to introduce quarantine. Explaining it this way: “Exceeding the epidemic threshold for influenza incidence does not mean the beginning of an influenza epidemic. Most often it is a typical epidemic rise in the winter season and the expected epidemic rise.”
“In the Kharkov, Lugansk, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya regions and in Kyiv, a non-epidemic level of activity of influenza and viral respiratory infections is maintained. In all other regions of Ukraine, epidemic activity of various intensities is recorded”, Health Ministry report.
During a week, olymerase chain reaction received a message about ten fatal cases due to complications from the flu. Since the beginning of the epidemic season – 48 people have died from complications after the disease. Not a single deceased has been vaccinated against influenza.
