Prosecutor’s office, together with SBU, announced new suspicions of the defendants in the case of activities of a criminal organization in the Kherson region, which may be involved in the murder of Kateryna Gandzyuk.
The Prosecutor General and the Prosecutor’s Office of Kherson region together with the SBU on February 26, 2020 reported suspicion to four persons, including the probable head of the criminal organization. Law enforcement officers suspect them of violent acts against citizens and arson of their property in order to intimidate and stop public activities.
According to the investigation, four people are suspected of “illegal seizure of vehicles about 5 million hryvna, committed by an organized group and combined with violence dangerous to the life or health of the victim (part 3 of article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). “Also, searches carried out at the places of residence of the defendants and the possible storage of material evidence.
Law enforcers, as stated on prosecutor’s website, the suspicion to the probable head of the criminal organization – a former assistant to the Ukrainian people’s deputy of previous convocations, who is currently in custody.Prosecutors also reported suspicion and took preventive measures against his likely accomplices.
On February 26, 2020, court allowed the transferof iaccomplices of the attack on Kateryna Gandzyuk to the pre-trial detention facilities in Kiev, who are serving sentences in accordance with the verdict of the Pokrovsky district court of the Dnipropetrovsk region of June 6, 2019, to participate in investigatins.
Recall, Kateryna Gandzyuk (1985-2018) was a deputy of the Kherson Regional Council and the . Head of the Executive Committee of the Kherson City Council, Advisor of Kherson Mayor, UN National Volunteer, public activist.
