The national postal operator Ukrposhta (Ukrainian Postal Service) has announced the search for a partner with whom a lease agreement will be signed for the first modern sorting center to be built near Kyiv. The Minister of Infrastructure Vladislav Krykliy has annouced about it.
“Digitalization and maximum automation of all processes remains one of the main priorities in the development and operation of Ukrposhta. From today until February 19, the company is collecting proposals from contractors and partners ready to build the first modern automated sorting center in 40 years to provide even faster and more convenient postal services to the public. This became possible thanks to the support of our permanent international partners from the EIB (European Investment Bank) and the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development), with whom we are working on the project “Logistics Network (Modernization and Digitization of Ukrposhta)”, which will build 7 automated sorting centers and 62 semi-automated depots, “said the head of Ministry.
The main requirements for participants are the experience of building large logistics centers, the availability of sources of funding from 10 million dollars and their own land plot of at least 8 hectares with a convenient location no further than 20 km from Kyiv.
According to Vladyslav Krykliy, the implementation of this project will create a state-of-the-art logistics network for parcel processing, reduce delivery times and improve the overall quality of postal services for millions of Ukrainians. “This, in turn, will help to improve the conditions for doing business in the country and provide the necessary infrastructure for the further development of e-commerce,” said the Government portal.
“The project to modernize Ukrposhta’s logistics network is finally getting its physical shape and clear deadlines. The first step in its major reorganization and automation of parcel sorting will be the construction of a sorting center on the left bank of Kyiv. And we need a reliable partner for doing it. To ensure transparent and efficient use of funds, we will choose a partner company on Prozorro. Although the law on procurement does not provide for these auctions on the market. We are currently conducting market research to formulate clear requirements and agree on all technical details before launching the tender. We invite all potential partners who have experience in implementing such large-scale projects and the desire to join the first construction in 40 years in Ukrposhta, “- said Igor Smilyansky, the Director General of Ukrposhta.
