The Verkhovna Rada has adopted the Draft Law No. 4046 “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts on Stimulating the Activities of Farms”. According to the people’s deputies, this draft law should make it easier for farmers to get loans.
“The implementation of this draft law will enable farms to more actively participate in state support programmes and to gain access to credit resources. At the same time, the draft law opens up the possibility of introducing individual support programmes for farmers under the age of 35. The document also regulates the composition of land plots of farms and other issues important for the development of farming,” commented Ihor Petrashko, the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.
According to the website of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, the draft law provides for:
- standardizing the composition of land plots of farms, in whose use there are the land plots that have been transferred to them on the basis of State acts for permanent use;
- expanding the range of recipients of state support through the Ukrainian State Fund for Support of Farms, securing the status of family farms as recipients of such support;
- introducing state support for a farm whose head is under the age of 35 inclusive.
According to the Ministry, the adoption of this draft law will promote equal access of all farms to state support programmes, including through the Ukrainian State Fund for Support of Farms, and will contribute to the implementation and the support of entrepreneurial initiatives of “young farmers”, i.e. rural young people who have expressed a desire to engage in agricultural activities, as well as to increasing employment and creating new jobs in rural areas.
