President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree establishing February 26 in Ukraine, the Day of Resistance to Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
This announced by Zelensky during the opening of the Age of Crimea 2020 forum, recalling that on this day, six years ago, a large meeting was held in Simferopol in support of the integrity and unity of Ukraine.
“Honoring the courage and heroism of all participants of the rally, today I am signing a decree on the Day of Resistance to Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol. This day will be celebrated annually on February 26,” the President said.
The return of Crimea to Ukraine not only Zelensky’s goal as head of state, but also the position of a citizen. “This is not only our common dream. This is a guarantee of safety on the planet. This is a restoration of faith. Faith in international law and justice, “And we know that this day is bound to come.” Zelensky added.
