Since February 26, 2021, Ivano-Frankivsk region has been referred to the red zone.This decision was adopted by the State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations at an extraordinary meeting, held on February 23 due to the worsening in region’s epidemiological situation.
“Since the beginning of the year, the weekly number of new cases of COVID-19 in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast has increased 6 times and over the last week the increase made up 30%,” reported Viktor Liashko, the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine. He added that “the region also has the highest incidences of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections, and the established epidemiological threshold has already been exceeded twice.”
Furthermore, the highest detection rate of new cases among the total number of tests keeps here at 27%. “The level of hospitalization during the last week is twice the incidence set by the Cabinet of Ministers: 60 people per 100 thousand population. In addition, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast remains the only region in Ukraine where the occupancy of oxygen beds exceeds 50% (even with extra beds), “said the Deputy Minister at the meeting. He also added that 82% of resuscitation beds are already occupied, in half of hospitals – by 100%.
The head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration was instructed to take all necessary steps to ensure compliance with anti-epidemic restrictive measures.
Starting from February 25, regular and irregular passenger services on suburban and intercity public bus routes that do not run beyond the territory of the region (intra-regional routes) are suspended, as well as suburban rail, urban road and electric transport, except for transportation:
- by passenger cars if the number of passengers with the driver does not exceed 5 persons (excluding persons under the age of 14)
- official and / or rented motor vehicles of enterprises, establishments and institutions, provided that: drivers and passengers bear personal protective equipment (1 per seat); Regional Subdivision of National Police has been informed about the rout no less than two days before.
The educational process in preschool institutions is suspended; the educational process in institutions of general secondary (including specialized), extra-curricular, technical and vocational, and higher education will proceed in a remote format, reads the FB page of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration.
The Commission ruled it mandatory to organize together with the National Police, the National Guard a special regime of entry into the territory of the region through the quarantine checkpoints set-up, as well as to prohibit entry for citizens traveling for tourism.
Starting from February 25, checkpoints will be placed at the entrances to the territory of the region and at its exits. Medical workers will be engaged to carry out temperature screening, to interview people for the presence of symptoms of acute respiratory diseases. Emergency medical teams (EMTs), officers of the National Police and employees of the State Emergency Service will be on duty at the checkpoints. If a person has symptoms of acute respiratory diseases, including fever, such person will be advised to contact the health care facilities of the region for a differential diagnosis.
